Business Description
We are a free index allowing webmasters to list their tutorials for free, as well as write and publish their tutorials on our custom authoring tool. Advertisers can also purchase advertising via a custom ad tool and forums. The site also includes a credit system, forums, and a fully custom built CMS.
How does your business make money?
The site has always relied on advertising revenue but the site was sold in 2009 to new owners that left the site on autopilot and did not update anything over the last 8 years. The site was then returned to me (the original owner) in 2018 and I spent around $500 on fixing major bugs and broken pages and cleaning out the spam and spam accounts from the forums and cleaning up the tutorial databases. No optimization of the ads or ad spots has been done whatsoever, no revenue claims are being made for this sale. At the height of the site's popularity in 2007, the site was averaging 30k visits per day with revenues exceeding 10k per month.
Why should someone buy this business?
Pixel2life was a household name among designers, webmasters and web programmers for years, and was considered the best online tutorial community catering to beginners to professionals. The brand itself is still widely known and could be revived by someone with the time and resources to do so. I would recommend a buyer with the ability to do their own programming or has access to low rates for dev and with some dedication and TLC, this site will earn revenue again. I also have some business ideas for a new owner if they are interested, which would lean away from ad or affiliate revenue.
Why are you selling this business?
The site was sold in 2009 to a local company that promised to build the site beyond it's current success. Instead they left the site on autopilot until the traffic and revenues dropped significantly. Last year they contacted me and asked if I wanted the site back at minimal cost, to which I accepted. I then spent $500 in outsourcing to update major issues on the site with the intention of further development and reviving the site but I just do not have the time due to my full time job. I would love to see someone take this legendary site and breath new life in to it.
