Courseroot showcases the best online courses and tutorials from the biggest platforms on the internet with extensive details which includes not only the course title, description, and price, but also the level of difficulty of the course, the quality of the certificate if there is one, the rating, number of reviews, hours of content it provides, and more. We then allow prospective students to filter through the courses in their field of interest based on these course characteristics.

Affiliate marketing - Courseroot earns commissions on course sales from referrals to the course platforms we have listed (ca. 20-40% commission rate).
Why should someone buy this business?
We are moving into an era where endless online educational resources are available to nearly anyone in the world with a device and internet connection. With established platforms like Khan Academy, Coursera, and Udemy providing thousands of courses, as well as new providers emerging every day, there is a need for clarity. Courseroot leverages scalable systems to help students find the courses that best fit their needs. The platform has been fully automated as such that it can be maintained (courses updated each month) with only 5 hours/month. Courseroot has had two incredibly successful listings on Product Hunt ranking #1 (v1) and #2 (v2) of the day with a combined 2100+ upvotes (https://bit.ly/2KiHOQH). The real potential for growth lays in content marketing (blog/articles). The website has solid on- and off-page SEO with over 760 unique domain backlinks coming in (total of 3,700+). However, we have hardly put in the effort to write target keyword posts and direct link equity to them.
How can the future owner improve this business?
The biggest point of improvement and potential for Courseroot will be figuring out how to leverage the incredible 3,700+ backlinks from 760+ unique domains that have come in to pump up the site in Google. Specifically, a focus on great content marketing that targets keywords that can bring in new, high-value traffic. If the new owner can crack this, Courseroot will be an incredible source of passive income with only 5 hours/month or so of manual input required to maintain it.
On top of this, building out a good social media following might be another source of excellent targeted traffic. Although the social media profiles have been set up, not much time has been spend growing these.
Furthermore, we have had a great number of platforms and individual course creators reach out to get their courses listed on Courseroot. It will definitely be worth it for the new owner to see if he or she can turn this into another revenue stream, while maintaining the integrity of the search results.
Why are you selling this business?The main reason that I am selling Courseroot is that I have been working on it as a side-project for over two years now, with intervals of intensity, and have yet to unlock its real potential. I've never been interested or good at content marketing or social media, and have always neglected this, which is unfortunate because I see the potential the platform has. Knowing the potential it holds, I want to see somebody else take it to this new level and capitalize on the growth of a ~400 million user market, something I have unfortunately not been able to do myself.
