DPC Spot is a SaaS business which helps medical practices create websites. The service consists of a simple web dashboard for modifying website content and a number of dynamically rendered websites hosted independently on Google cloud. The service is minamalistic and does not use a drag-and-drop builder like Squarepace. Subscribers create their account and then input information on their medical practice — such as pricing, address and contract information. Their website is created in 10 minutes. To date, our main marketing channel has been word-of-mouth. Highly convenient and easy to use, the software is particularly appealing to busy medical practitioners.
How does your business make money?
DPC Spot makes money through monthly subscriptions to its website building service/software. A basic website — with no customisation or analytics costs $75 per month. An advanced website — with monthly analytics, emails and additional customisation costs $150 per month. We also offer discounted annual plans. Our annual subscription renewals occurred in June which explains the boost in revenue. Our annual recurring revenue is currently $12,600 while our monthly recurring revenue is $1050. Our recurring revenue decreased for the past 12 months as we stopped offering reputation management marketing as it was too time-consuming. This was not due to user churn.
Why should someone buy this business?
This business requires low effort and generates strong recurring revenue. Basic web design skills would be advantageous for the new owner. Expenses are almost zero — literally less than $1.00 per month on Google Cloud. I am selling the business to focus on a new venture however this business has generated approximately $1000 per month for over 12 months, with low churn.
How can the future owner improve this business?
Labelled "the future of health", direct primary care (DPC) is a fast-growing, value-based alternative to the fee-for-service model. This is the ideal acquisition for a buyer looking for a passive income stream. It has grown to date from word-of-mouth so there is a huge opportunity to invest further time and resources into paid adverting whether through Google Adwords or social media. For example, there are many Facebook groups dedicated to DPC providers. The churn rate is low (1 out of 16 in the past year). Direct Primary Care as a practice model/movement is growing fast and in recent years has grown by roughly 30%. The software could be expanded to cater for different types of medical practices and the service offering could be expanded to include marketing services like reputation management, Facebook and Google advertising. Our existing customers are particularly receptive when DPC Spot offered reputation management services for a brief period.
Why are you selling this business?I've started another business and don't have the time or inclination to continue customer support for this business. The time commitment for DPC Spot is however particularly low.
