The website and email delivers news on employee engagement and benefits to rewards, HR and benefits professionals. The magazine did the same but has been an eVersion since 2018 and not run in 2019. https://view.joomag.com/incentive-motivation-magazine/M0100640001495452155 (Examples)
How does your business make money?
We make money from selling advertising space in the form of banner adverts, newsletter sponsorship and solus emails, guest potss and native ads. Previous advertisers in 2018 include the B2B and gift card arms of brands such as Google, Eurostar, Tesco, Sainsburys and other household names in the UK. What can be sold varies from around £700 for an email campaign to £395 - £800 for a monthly banner depending on size. We have a full media pack and can show what has worked best. We previously ran a magazine quarterly which drew in around £1200 per page in ad costs.
Why should someone buy this business?
This is a long standing title that has run since 2012. Previously owned by Incisive Media and known as Incentive Today. https://media.info/magazines/titles/incentive-motivation
It is a reputable brand with around 4000 unique visitors a month which represents a lot within this niche of employee benefits managers and similar titles. The email database is 13,000 and full of SMEs and large businesses ready to buy engagement software, employee gifts etc. With a great sales person at the helm this would produce a hearty profit with minimal costs - mine are simply hosting costs and the domain.
You would just need to write or source content for the latest news. I have plenty of PR contacts and they reach out with stories every day.
The digital scope is huge, but the magazine is also able to run. I can provide excellent print houses and you would also have my print business database of 1200,000 people who have opted in to receive the magazine with addresses.
How can the future owner improve this business?
I have no time to manage a sales person effectivley as I have a new baby and have a consultanc business. I would suggest paying a full or part time salary or a commission and rewarding them for sales. Connections can be made quickly at events and shows and I would do my best to intriduce you! We also have great industry connections with trade bodies who will help promote you as a sponsor/ partner. You could also relaunch the print magazine and reap the benefits of full pages of advertising, and this could be priced around £1,700 per page.
Why are you selling this business?I have run the business for 3 years but am not a natural sales person and with a new baby and now no time to hire and manage someone effectively, sales can become slow if you don't stay top of mind. I have another business that is taking my time and of course family life. You need to be able to be sell ad space which is a real skill. However, the email and site traffic is of benefit to those people who do choose to advertise - if you can secure the ad space you WILL succeed. I will support you as much as I can so you thrive!
