Business Description

A 20 year old forum with many postings about Tolkien and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Moderators in place.

The site was started in 2000. It was a popular fan forum for the Lord of the Rings books, movies, and beyond to other JR Tolkien literature. I bought the site in December 2014 from the original owner. It was a neglected vBulletin forum. I converted it to XenForo and added advertising and analytics. Traffic goes up during the Christmas holidays. It also spiked in the past when the Hobbit movie came out.

How does your business make money?

Advertising with Adsense

Why should someone buy this business?

Really passive income website with very stable revenues. The forum is active, there are moderators, but it is really a well-behaved forum, and there is almost nothing to do. Spammers have already been blocked via a country blocking script.
You don't have to be a fan of Tolkien to run this forum (I haven't made any post myself).

How can the future owner improve this business?

Possibility to add new income by selling T-shirts or gifts to the community of fans.
Improve presence on social networks.

Why are you selling this business?

I am currently selling some assets of my website portfolio to fund offline activities.
