Business Description

DropDAV connects Dropbox to IoT devices that don't have first-party clients. Think copiers, file servers, legacy devices. Since 2010, DropDAV has been used 50MM+ times to connect people to their files on their terms.

How does your business make money?

We've charged $5 per month for access since 2011.

Why should someone buy this business?

DropDAV lets folks connect their Dropbox workflows deeper into their tools so they can be more productive. We stopped investing in the business in 2011 and it has continued to produce revenue since. An engaged operator could take it to the moon, connecting Dropbox to the booming IoT industry via the provider agnostic WebDAV protocol built into almost all operating systems.

It has taken 0 effort to operate for the past 7 years. There are no customer support emails, and revenue rolls in month after month. It just works.

There have never been any credible competitors, and the only competitor shut down in 2012. It's decently challenging to get the WebDAV server implementation correct, and DropDAV has been tuned for the most popular WebDAV clients.

How can the future owner improve this business?

Subscription prices haven't moved since 2011, so immediately they can be raised to produce more revenue. Marketing efforts have been nil since 2011, so more customers could be brought in with some basic content marketing about using DropDAV to connect IoT devices to Dropbox-- think office copiers, file servers, devices without native Dropbox support, etc.
