Some of the most popular, frequently visited websites on the internet offer funny reading and memes! Created in 2010, LolSnaps (https://lolsnaps.com/) is a well-established content site which curates humorous articles, memes and other content. It has generated over $31,500 in profit in the prior 12 months through advertising using Google Ad Exchange, AdSense, Amazon Publisher Services, and OpenX. The audience is a strong, loyal community which has helped LolSnaps.com secure a highly predictable revenue stream. As we've developed a large, loyal community/following, we have not had to invest in or rely on paid social media marketing and viral videos. The site averages 3.6 million page views per month and 294,000 users per month. While social media channels, in particular, Pinterest, drive the majority of current website visitors, the existing community represents over 85% of page views & advertising revenue.
How does your business make money?
LolSnaps.com makes money from advertising. The revenue model is stable & predictable. Current advertising partners include Google Ad Exchange (AdX), Google AdSense, Amazon Publisher Services (UAM) and OpenX. Google Ad Exchange is a premium ad exchange built for publishers. Eligibility requirements for Google Ad Exchange are higher than AdSense and LolSnaps has been a preferred publisher since 2012.
Why should someone buy this business?
This Wordpress website has strong domain authority and has been profitable from day one. Content is written by our community and myself and consists of humorous articles, memes, and captions. A large amount of traffic is driven to the website from our Pinterest account which today has over 179,000 followers. (https://www.pinterest.com/lolsnaps/). Our advertising accounts are established and well regarded. This website could be easily managed by both a technology novice and expert and the time commitment is low. I currently spend approximately 1.5 hours per day on the site. The LolSnaps.com audience/community is very loyal which is something hard to create in the current environment. Predictable visits and income give a future owner the ability to extract strong cash-on-cash returns or they can grow the business with no large capital investment. We have approx. 5000 subscribers and have done no email marketing to date. We have also not done any paid advertising in recent years.
How can the future owner improve this business?
The future owner can choose to do nothing with the website and simply manage it for cash-on-cash investment return. Or they can also look to grow the business for a greater return in the following ways. They can increase advertising rates by deploying "header bidding" technology. There seems to be strong evidence that header bidding can increase ad rates from 10% to 60%. They could convert more of the social media audience to frequent community users. Social media visitors view an average of 1.92 pages per visit and frequent community users view 15.95 pages per visit. Increased page views per visitor will drive more ads and revenue. They could also increase the volume of content posted to the site. This will increase the frequent community user page views and will result in increased ads shown.
Why are you selling this business?
I'm focused on building out a new business (in a non-competitive space) and need the time and energy I'm devoting to LolSnaps. LolSnaps is performing well and is reasonably priced for either a buyer who wants a solid financial return or a buyer who wants a growth opportunity.
