Business Description

Evil Eye Collective (evileyecollective.com) sells high quality, well-priced jewelry and lifestyle goods that incorporate the evil eye symbol. The evil eye is a good luck charm in many countries around the world, is said to ward off negative thoughts and protects its wearer. I started this business as I have always known of the meaning and significance of the evil eye, as taught by my mother and grandmother as part of our Greek heritage.

*PLEASE NOTE: Our asking price of USD$14,000 includes 1743 units of inventory which can retail for up to $34,000, which we are happy to send to the new owner, free of charge. We are selling our inventory at a 70% discount to retail price. The business is therefore priced at $3500 + approximately $11,500 in inventory. *

How does your business make money?

We make money from the sale of jewelry and lifestyle goods incorporating the evil eye symbol. We source our high-quality products from China and Turkey and ship to customers around the world from Canada. We have reliable, quality suppliers in China and Turkey. We have invested heavily in branding and all our products are packaged nicely in little branded cardboard envelopes and calico drawstring bags.

Why should someone buy this business?

The "evil eye” symbol is highly sought after in wearable goods, particularly jewelry. This is a turnkey business which is easy to operate on Shopify. Our products are profitable with high-margins. We have secured good organic search results for keywords “evil eye” and “evil eye meaning." We rank on page one of Google for the “evil eye meaning” keyword, which is often extremely difficult to achieve quickly. We are also the second image generated on Google for the “evil eye." We have created custom audiences on Facebook and Instagram as “evil eye” is a specific interest field on Facebook. The keywords “evil eye” have low competition on Google Adwords so advertising for them is inexpensive and effective. We have 727 people on our email list, an automated customised welcome email series, an abandoned cart series and templates for weekly, monthly and sale EDMs.

How can the future owner improve this business?

This business is in its infancy (only 6 months old) and so there is a huge opportunity for growth for a future buyer. Our supply chain is well-established so this business would be the ideal acquisition for an experienced marketer who has the resources to invest. This may take the form of more targeted Facebook or Instagram advertising and even Google AdWords or Google Shopping. The future owner could also consider selling products on Amazon, eBay and Etsy.

Why are you selling this business?

I started this business because of my Greek heritage - I grew up with the evil eye taught from my mother and grandmother. But, with our second child on the way, it's not realistic for me to try and build this business. We've done the hard work of setting up the brand, photography, supplier relationships, social, automations, Shopify store and much more, now you just need to grow it.
